Roofers in Alwoodley

Alwoodley is mostly larger detached houses, and bigger roofs mean more hips, valleys, dormers and extensions to get right. We inspect the roof and explain the proposed work, with a written quote before we start.

The roofs we see in Alwoodley

What's on the roofs around LS17, and what tends to go wrong with them.

Large detached houses

Big hipped roofs in tile, where the hips, valleys and abutments are where most leaks start.

Extensions and garages

Flat roofs over extensions, garages and garden rooms, often on their second or third covering by now.

Dormers and loft conversions

Where the dormer cheeks meet the main roof is the usual source of a persistent damp patch.

On a large house, scaffolding is a big part of the cost. If anything else needs doing while it's up, like gutters, fascias or a chimney, we'll price it as an option so you only pay for access once.

What customers say

Reviews from real jobs · Read them all

“Would definitely recommend Joe, Tom and team. They were extremely professional and provided photographs and videos from the roof as part of the quote, throughout the job and after the work had been completed. They have communicated well throughout and left the site clean and tidy.”

Questions from Alwoodley customers

Straight answers before you book.

Do you do flat roofs on extensions?

Yes: EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and torch-on felt. We'll tell you which suits yours and why.

Can you work alongside my builder?

Yes. We're happy to do just the roofing element of an extension or conversion and fit in with their programme.

Do you cover Moortown and Adel too?

Yes. Send your postcode and we'll confirm.

Planning repairs around hips and valleys

Several roof sections can meet above the same room, so locating the entry point matters.

Describe the position of the leak

Tell us whether the damp appears near a valley, chimney or dormer. A roof inspection can distinguish a covering fault from an adjoining flashing problem.

When damp appears near a stack, the chimney and flashing guide explains why mortar, the top of the stack and the junction with the roof need to be considered separately. Describe the position and timing of the leak rather than assuming that a nearby valley is responsible.

Include the extension

If the house has a flat-roofed extension as well as a pitched roof, mention both in your enquiry. We can discuss flat roofing and dormer details without assuming the main roof needs replacing.

For a dormer comparison, the Roundhay project sequence separates the cheek, felted top and roof window. For a flat extension, the Adel warm-roof sequence shows insulation, deck, upstands and a rooflight kerb. Both jobs were in nearby areas rather than Alwoodley itself, but the photographed stages are a useful way to talk through the work your own roof needs.

Scarcroft, LS14

Scarcroft is a village off the A58 between Leeds and Wetherby, a short drive east of Alwoodley.

Large detached houses

Big detached homes with hipped roofs, dormers and several valleys, the same kind of roof we work on across Alwoodley. Valleys and abutments are where these roofs usually let water in.

Older roofs worth assessing

Where a house still has its original slate, we check what can be reused before pricing a re-roof.

Access on larger plots

Long drives, gardens and outbuildings affect where scaffolding can go. Mention them when you ask for a quote so access is priced correctly.

Scarcroft is also close to our Wetherby work. Send your postcode and we'll confirm a visit.
