Do you fit the panels and the electrics?
Yes. We fit the panels, and the electrical work is done by the fully qualified electrician we contract, so you deal with one company from quote to finish.
Should I re-roof before having solar fitted?
If the roof is near the end of its life, yes. Taking an array off and back on later costs far more than doing the roof first.
Will fixings make my roof leak?
Not if they're flashed properly. Badly sealed mounting points are one of the most common causes of leaks on solar roofs, and it's exactly what we check.
Can you repair a roof with panels already on it?
Usually. Depending on where the problem is, we may need the array partly removed first.
Plan the roof before the panels
A solar installation should not leave roof maintenance until the array has to come off again.
Check the covering first
Discuss worn tiles or slate, existing leaks and the likely remaining life of the roof before fitting an array. If it already needs re-roofing, combining the work can avoid removing panels for a later roof replacement.
Agree roof and electrical work
Mounting hooks, rails and flashings need to suit the roof covering. Regal Roofing fits the panels and the contracted electrician handles wiring and connection, as described in our Ilkley solar installation. Confirm the scope of both parts in your quote.
Allow for future access
Tell us if the array is already in place and where any leak appears. Panels may need to be partly removed to reach the fault. Our roof repair service covers the adjoining tiles and roofing details.
